THE TEAM

Why Training Day +

Just like raising kids, raising livestock doesn’t come with an instruction manual. You buy pigs, spend months in the barn, ask different people what to do, and still lie awake wondering if you’re screwing it up. It’s emotional, it’s unpredictable, and at the end of it all one judge's opinion decides how your day goes.

For 20+ years, Lackey Livestock has shown up in that world and competed at the highest levels. More importantly, we’ve helped families hit their goals: making the sale at the Texas majors, improving placings at county and state fairs, turning nervous kids into showmen who are comfortable in the ring, and helping parents feel confident when it’s time to adjust feed.

After working with families that long, you start to see patterns. We know what most people “get” right away and what almost nobody understands at first. We know the questions we hear on repeat every single year, and we know how the questions change when a family goes from “just hoping to making the sale” to “trying to win the whole thing.” Training Day+ is built around those patterns so you don’t have to learn everything the slow, painful way.

Yes, it’s a subjective game. But there are fundamentals that move the odds: how you set up your barn, how you break and handle pigs, how you feed and manage weight, how you plan your season, how you identify and respond to health issues, how your kid shows under pressure. Those pieces are not magic. They’re skills and systems.

Training Day+ exists to close the gap between “we’re working hard” and “we’re working on the right things.” It’s about deciding to trust the feedback from our team and from the feeders already running this program that it will get you further than guessing on your own.

Jason’s stance is simple: he’s willing to work just as hard at helping as you are at working. If you’ll bring honest effort, we’ll bring the experience, the structure, and the honest answers.

Meet the Team

Lackey Livestock is a family‑built program, but it takes a small army of good people to help your kids and pigs be their best. Here are the faces you’ll see most often during your season, but there will be trusted contributors who jump in behind the scenes when you need them.
